Watch Models for Fabergé
Sector: Luxury watchmaking
Period: 2014-2020
Client: Fabergé (jewellery and watchmaking house)
Background
Fabergé, the renowned jewellery house, also develops haute horlogerie watches that combine mechanical complications with jewellery excellence. For its presentations and retail spaces, it needs visual models that showcase its watchmaking expertise while staying true to its refined aesthetic world.
My role: create models scaled up 15 to 20 times that highlight the technical side without losing the brand's signature elegance.
Problem
Technical challenge:
- Watches that combine watchmaking and jewellery: a twofold technical and aesthetic standard
- 15-20X enlargement with adapted mechanisms
- Demonstrated functionality while preserving a luxury look
Aesthetic challenge:
- A highly recognisable Fabergé universe: elegance, refinement, signature colours
- Balancing technical demonstration and visual beauty
- Models intended for a jewellery setting as much as a watchmaking one
Solution
Process:
- Analysis of the technical drawings and of the collection's visual identity
- 3D design: staying true to the Fabergé aesthetic in the choice of shapes and colours
- Material selection: acrylic (clear and coloured), metals with premium finishes
- Multi-technique fabrication: laser cutting, CNC milling, turning, assembly
- Meticulous finishing: polishing, surface treatment, respect for the brand's aesthetic world
- Mounting on a base: an elegant presentation in keeping with the brand image
Distinctive features:
- A strong aesthetic dimension, not just a technical one
- Respect for Fabergé's visual DNA
- Sometimes free rein over the overall presentation form
Result
Deliverables:
- Large-format working models (30-45 cm)
- Mounted on elegant bases with suitable lighting
- High-end finishes in keeping with the Fabergé universe
- Technical and visual documentation
Impact:
- Presentations in jewellery boutiques and at events
- Sales tools combining watchmaking excellence and aesthetics
- Showcasing the technical dimension to a jewellery clientele
